Sax Player

Sax Player Relief Art Print by Joanne Meshew

Sax Player Relief Art Print

“Music keeps playing inside my head” wrote Carole King and that is equally true for me. As a tribute I created this Relief Art Print of a saxophone player playing his grooves while tuning out the worries of the world.

Music is playing inside my head
Over and over and over again
My friend, there’s no end to the music

Ah, summer is over
But the music keeps playing
And won’t let the cold get me down

It Is The Kinks Day!

It is The Kinks Day!

After 50 years of the invention of the powerful guitar sound of The Kinks “You Really Got Me” by teenager Dave Davies, there needs to be some sort of statue erected to commemorate this event in music history. Author Jen Cunningham has written an article that celebrates this event and puts it into historical context.

The violin may be the smallest member of the violin family of stringed instruments, including the viola, cello and double bass, but it is the highest pitched member of its family. The violin is also known as a fiddle and appears in many different genres of music from bluegrass to rock and roll.

Story Teller

All paths lead to Saturday night as storytellers spin their ghostly tales. The moon is bright in the sky while a crisp wind rattles the leaves, the audience waits, fidgeting in anticipation. Please scare me tonight.

This was to illustrate a weekend story featuring Corn Island Story Telling. Two days of renowned storytellers gathered from all over the country to delight people with their stories and tall tales. Story Teller is printed on rag vellum paper with Graphic Chemical ink.

I like the simplicity and detail of this illustration concerning a weekend concert. The lines are energetic and the violin just minutes from play. This is from one of a series of small newspaper relief prints announcing weekend events. Violin is hand printed on rag vellum with Graphic Chemical ink.

Sax Player 225

The musician plays the saxophone, the audience silent in the dark room as the music drifts sweet and mellow. My intent was to suggest the musician both emerging and blending into the dark, only his music matters.

This is from one of a series of small newspaper relief prints illustrating weekend events. The saxophone player is hand printed on Masa Profesional paper using Graphic Chemical Ink.
